Adventure was practically in my veins. My first passport stamp came at age seven, and my family spent the next few years traveling everywhere from Peru to Alaska.
I thought those exploring days were over when I hit college, until I found a 30-day whirlwind study abroad through 11 European countries. In true Sid fashion, I signed up five months late and only two months before it started. (To the person who dropped out and opened up that last-minute spot for me: I’m so sorry, but also, thank you so much).
That trip left me completely exhilarated and slightly bankrupt. But it ignited the spark.
When Josh and I got married, travel took a back seat to standard newlywed life. But six months in, while Josh was finishing his final college semester, I got laid off. In true “make lemonade” fashion, I dusted off my camera and leaned into photography and videography. Turning that creative lens into a business equipped us with the exact skills that became our trusty travel companions.
Then came Ollie, our adventurous bundle of joy. We took him on his first flight at six months old because we kept hearing the advice: “Travel now before you have kids!” I started pushing back on that. Why does parenthood mean stopping? If life is hard at home, why not add a beautiful backdrop and some incredible food to the mix?
For years, we became a well-oiled travel machine. Then, the next wave of unsolicited advice hit: “Get it in now, because you definitely can’t travel once you have two.” It took us a while to get here—secondary infertility put a heavy pause on our plans—but our baby girl is finally here. And guess what? We’re traveling just as much. We’ve traded the single diaper bag for double the snacks, exploring North America by land, air, and sea.
